When i first started i took pictures of casino names and what kinda symbol they had as a representation to them. But then i figured it was nothing real intreasting. So then i took places of all the businesses that went out of business but that also was non intreating because of the fact that they all had the same thing which said "for lease" so i started taking pictures of everything on the floor that was metal like. I saw that there was lots of circles with things in them and i started capturing that. And thats how i decied what was going to be my focus

Abstract or Representational?

John Taylor's Treaty Signing at Medicine Creek Lodge,1967, is more representational because it gives the viewers a artwork that almost looks realistic. The painting is as if the artist took a picture of the ceromony and then painted a copy of it. On the other hand Howling Wolf's Treaty Signing at Medicine Creek Lodge,1875-1878, is more abstract because the artist paints the picture as to what the signing of the treaty meant. He didnt paint the actual picture but made little pictures which gave a meaning as to what it meant to have the treaty signed. Both the art peices resemble the same thing which is the signing of the peace treaty but yet differ in many ways. Taylor's art peice is more sophisticated and Wolf's art peice is more childish. The reason i say this is because Taylor's art work is black and white, it looks professional as to Wolf's art work is more colorful and looks as if a child drew it. I think Taylors art is more of just a overall look, when Wolf's art is more of a meaningful peice.

Chester Arnold

Chester Arnolds work is amazing. He's paintings look so real I had a hard time believing they weren't real pictures. One artwork that really caught my attention was "They will be done" it was painted in 2006 with oil and linen. It was a collection of the San Jose Museum, gift of the Lipman Family Foundation. (Deborah and Andy Rappaport). The painting had a lot of negativity shown by dark colors but also had bright colors. People were fighting and killing each other. It also had people digging holes as if to make graves for the dead. There are police and army people arresting civilians. The painting had a lot of meaning it showed how people did not take advantage of things and just fought to make things better. This piece of artwork was amazing.
